My son plays football at SFD Schwanheim, a club in Frankfurt with 400+ members. The club needed a new website. I took the old one, reworked it with Claude, and it’s live: sfdschwanheim.de.
Why Bother
Club websites are usually an afterthought. Someone’s nephew built it years ago, nobody dares to touch it, and the trainers send schedule changes through WhatsApp anyway.
But the website is the first thing a parent sees when they search for “Fußball Kinder Schwanheim”. If it looks dated or the trial training button is buried, the parent moves on.
The Result

Big photo, club purple as the accent color, one headline, one call to action: Probetraining vereinbaren. Everything else sits behind a simple menu: club, news, teams, membership, shops, contact.
The content didn’t change much. The old site already had the teams, the training times and the membership prices. What changed is how it’s presented.
How It Went
I didn’t start from a blank page. That’s the point.
- Take the old site. Content, structure and texts already existed. No need to invent anything.
- Let Claude rework it. Layout, typography, responsive behavior, image handling. I described the direction, reviewed the output and corrected what felt off.
- Ship it. Done.
The boring parts are what usually eat the time: responsive layouts, image optimization, consistent spacing, accessibility basics. With Claude those are a conversation, not a weekend.
- An existing site is a great starting point: content and structure are already there, so the AI only has to improve the presentation.
- Design quality comes from a clear direction (one hero, one accent color, one call to action), not from more features.
- With Claude Code, a small club website is a matter of hours, not weeks.
What I Took Away
Claude doesn’t replace judgment. I still decided what the first screen should say and what the club stands for. But the distance between “this could look so much better” and “it’s live” got very short.
For a volunteer-run club, that changes what’s realistic. A good website is no longer a project. It’s an afternoon.
If you run a club and your website looks like 2012, this is your sign. Check out the result at sfdschwanheim.de.
